Once upon a time, Blanca Lake was my favorite trail. The glacier-fed lake is a stunning shade of blue, and the trail, while difficult, used to be very well maintained and only moderately crowded. Over the past two months, I've read about horrible crowds and lots of garbage making this hike a lot less enjoyable. However, when Andy and I had a Monday off work recently, we decided to use it as an opportunity to visit our favorite lake while avoiding the worst of the summer weekend crowds.

Last fall, inspired by all the stunning photos being shared by other hikers, I dragged my husband up to Lake Ingalls. This turned out to be my absolute favorite hike of 2014. Not only because of the sapphire blue lake, or the constant, breathtaking views of mountains freshly dusted with snow, but mostly because of the magical golden larches.

While it's not technically summer yet, most of this amazing spring in Seattle has felt like summer. Every year it seems like summer flies by before I've had a chance to do many of the things I want to! This year, I'm making a list for myself, mostly because I love lists! I hope you love lists too!
Make ice cream
Camp on the Olympic Peninsula
Hike in the North Cascades, maybe this trail? On that subject- hike more! At least once a month!
Bake lots of seasonal pies, especially this one!
Kayak in Puget Sound or Lake Washington
Get temporary tattoos to share with a friend, like these!
Spend time adventuring outdoors with both my nieces
Roast hot dogs and marshmallows over a campfire with friends
Play mini golf
Picnic in a park
Drink lots of homemade iced tea
Take a road trip
The perfect campsite
Hello out there! For most of my life, I have been a committed journal writer, but over the past years, with my increasingly busy life, I've fallen out of the habit. I miss the contemplation of keeping a journal, so I'm hoping this space can bring some of that back to my life. I also hope that by writing and thinking about the things I really enjoy spending my time on, I'll be more motivated to get off the couch and do those things. For now, this will blog will be entirely for me, but I will try to keep it interesting for anyone that does wander by.
With that said, I'll tell you all about the wonderful camping trip I recently went on.
