We’ve had a week of decidedly un-April weather, with nothing but sunshine and warm temperatures. I’d be complaining about it more, but happily there are lots of residential trails near my new job, so I went on a few short walks over lunch to take advantage of the weather before it gets too hot and summery. I’ve also been slowly discovering all the best places to pick up lunch, since I’m not particularly familiar with Bellevue. I have yet to find a gem like Deru Market from my days working in Kirkland, but I’ve at least found good Thai restaurant with a cute bubble tea shop next door - a good start!
Over the weekend, my cousin Cami was in town, visiting from Portland, and we spent a wonderful Saturday with her. Since her only request for the day was whiskey tasting at Woodinville Whiskey, we started the day off with brunch next door at The Hollywood Tavern. Even though they’ve been open since 2013, somehow this was my first visit and I’m happy to report that their bloody marys were excellent - my bloody mary connoisseur cousin even thought so! We followed up our delicious brunch with the mandated whiskey tasting, then a trip into Kirkland for some tea tasting and to purchase an borderline obscene quantity of macarons. They day was rounded out with dinner at my parents, including my dad’s delicious & strong margaritas enjoyed on the deck. After such a busy Saturday, I wanted to spend most of Sunday relaxing at home, but Andy did manage to lure me out for some Cinco De Mayo tacos and beer at our favorite local brewery. The rest of our Sunday was spent binge-watching Game of Thrones so we could finally get caught up to the season currently airing. We may have stayed up an hour and a half past our usual bedtime, but we managed it!
