After weeks of non-stop busyness, Andy and I spent two laid back weeks in a row doing not much other than relaxing at home. Not to say that all the various plans we've had over the last month or so haven't been fun, but after so much running around, we both needed some time to recover! Another positive shift recently - after weeks of what felt like a perpetual premature summer, just in time for the official start of the season we've finally had a handful of overcast, rainy days. Itβs given me hope for a milder summer to come!

Woah, I have so much catching up to do around here! I went off on vacation and seriously fell behind, but worry not - someday I'll get caught up! This week, after another quiet week at work, we took off a little early for our family trip to Sunriver. We got an early start Friday morning for the drive south to Central Oregon. After a long day in the car, we made it to Sunriver just in time for dinner and a short walk before bedtime. Over the next several days, we biked, we hiked, we drove in to Bend to spend a day drinking coffee and beer, and we spent many nights staying up late playing my favorite board game - Camel Up - which I'd highly recommend to anyone looking to entertain a group of 3-5 people. With the kids around, there were plenty of books to read and games to play. Our year-and-a-half old nephew turned out to be a great fan of both ping pong and foosball, especially after we swapped the traditional ball for the foosball table with a beach ball. I've never been much of a foosball player, but I have to admit, even I found it amusing with an oversized beach ball bouncing around unpredictably!

This was an interesting week. It started off cool and rainy, but by the weekend, the sun was blazing, and the temperature neared 100Β°! Spring ended with our typical June gloom, but having actual summer weather on the summer solstice was unexpected. Just in time for the weekend, I also caught some 24 hour bug, leaving me achy and congested and keeping me indoors for most of the weekend. By Sunday afternoon I was feeling back to myself, so we did manage to go for a long HOT walk in the watershed. With weather as hot as we've had over the past couple days, the blissful shade of wooded trails is what I crave. I'm definitely relieved the weather has cooled off for now. Hopefully we I luck out and we don't have too many more sweltering summer days this year. 75Β° is plenty warm for Seattle summers!

Summer is most definitely here! This past weekend, I kicked it off right with a wonderful camping trip with two good friends. It was raining when we arrived at the campsite, but we came armed with half a dozen tarps. After setting up our assorted rain covers and setting up our site, we got down to some serious relaxation. This particular weekend, we lucked out. After Friday night, the weather was beautiful through the weekend, and having arrived in the rain, we had our pick of the best campsites. Between the three of us, we brought enough alcohol for five, enough seating for six, and probably enough food for eight. Needless to say, we had a fabulous time eating and drinking all kinds of delicious things, lounging by the river, and even a little hiking. If only every weekend could be as jam-packed with good times!
